Farid Mostamand was born in Afghanistan and pursued his education at Kabul Medical School. Following the Russian invasion in 1981, Farid left his homeland, relocated to the United States, and established a career as a practicing chiropractor.
He wrote several historical fiction novels based on actual events, covering Afghanistan’s decades of war and political turmoil. Farid’s extensive study of the poetry and philosophy of the renowned mystic Rumi led to three books on Rumi’s teachings.
Besides his writing endeavors, Farid is passionate about nature, reading, and hiking. His work is a testament to his love for literature, deep connection to his roots, and a profound interest in philosophy and spirituality.

The words on the back cover used to describe the book are important: “richly detailed narrative”, “creating a tapestry as authentic as captivating”, “compelling read”, “This novel promises to immerse its readers” and when I read words like these I start by diluting them: it’s not up to the author to say whether a novel is successful but up to the reader. The author has already published other books and with this one he intrigued me. I’ll see if the novel lives up to these very high expectations as it promises or not. With such a promising premise it is very easy to disappoint the reader’s expectations and we just have to see if the author is presumptuous or not, because in self-published books, where the plot of the back cover is decided by the author, it annoys me a little to find words like that. In any case the book doesn’t have a high price and therefore you can read it to discover this new historical novel about Alexander and Roxane.
