Good morning everyone, I’m Elena and thanks for being on Alessandro III di Macedonia- website about Alexander the Great and Hellenism. Today I’m telling you about my latest reading:

HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ALEXANDER THE GREAT?
In this book you will test your knowledge about one of the most important historical figures of humanity while you have fun and enjoy learning about one of the most fascinating eras in history.
In this book you will find a hundred questions about the life of Alexander the Great and his conquests. You will have three possible options to choose from, carefully selected to make it difficult for you to choose the correct one. Face this challenge and find out how many questions you are able to solve correctly.
If you want to play in company, use one tile for each player. This will make the experience more competitive and fun.
In addition, you will have a brief explanation, so… it doesn’t matter if you got it right or not! This will allow you to learn and enjoy yourself while learning more aspects of the story.
There are questions of all levels for everyone to enjoy. Some are simpler, but others will require knowledge or cunning, and those will make all the difference!
Dare to join Alexander as he conquers the whole world!

Classificazione: 3.5 su 5.

Reading time: December 5th, 2023.

This quiz book contains one hundred questions with three closed answer options each. On the odd pages, the ones on the right, we find four questions with three answer options and separating them there are three drawings about Alexander the Great and on the even pages, the ones on the left, there are the correct answers to the questions on the previous page with three or four lines of explanation. In the final part there are 16 pages to mark the answers and play with this book.

The book was translated from a Spanish original and the translation suffers from some errors and typos: some personal subject pronouns are wrong, sometimes the names are misspelled; there is no page numbering.

I think one question is too vague because it was the result of the author’s conjectures, in another I didn’t like the description he gave of Diogenes. In my opinion, bibliographical references are missing in the explanation of the right answer so as to give more authority to the right answer on the one hand and on the other the reader, when he gets an answer wrong, could go and look for the explanation in books, whereas in this case he cannot.

The book is a nice idea, it costs little in the paper edition (€ 6.81) and in an hour we play a game to test our knowledge of Alexander the Great and we can also play it with friends, but it focuses only on his biography and doesn’t go too specifically, making it a quiz book for a generalist level of audience, however, for the curious reader who wishes to test himself, this book is an excellent tool to do so!

Happy weekend to everyone,
