Alexander the Great
Braver than heroes and greater than kings, this Greek wrote his name in history in letters of gold. Alexander, son of King Philip II and Olympias, was born in the middle of the 4th century BC in Pella. His education was undertaken by Aristotle, while his father taught him politics and strategy. He was only 20 years old when Philip was assassinated and Alexander became king of Macedonia. Two years later he launched an incredible campaign against the Persians with a small military force but with a genius strategy. After successive victories and continuous campaigns to the depths of Asia he fell seriously ill and died at just 32 years old in Babylon in 323 BC. Throughout his life he was never separated from his black horse, Bucephalas, and the Iliad papyri. We learn the details of his battles at school. His traces can be found in every part of Macedonia. But his achievements will accompany us forever.

Μετά από διαδοχικές νίκες και αδιάκοπες εκστρατείες μέχρι τα βάθη της Ασίας αρρώστησε βαριά και πέθανε μόλις 32 χρόνων στη Βαβυλώνα το 323 π.Χ. Σε όλη του τη ζωή δεν αποχωρίστηκε ποτέ το μαύρο άλογό του, τον Βουκεφάλα, και τους πάπυρους της Ιλιάδας. Τις λεπτομέρειες των μαχών του τις μαθαίνουμε στο σχολείο. Τα ίχνη του τα συναντούμε σε κάθε σημείο της Μακεδονίας. Τα επιτεύγματά του όμως θα μας συνοδεύουν για πάντα.
