Good morning everyone, I’m Elena from Italy and thank you for being on Alessandro III di Macedonia -your source on Alexander the Great and Hellenism!
Sorry for the absence and to try to make up for it today I point out many books that have come out recently about Alexander the Great and Cleopatra. These books are of different genres and are distinguished because they are all self-published on Amazon and it’s to underline how much people want to always and constantly bring attention to his figure and how much we want to talk about him. Alexander the Great is a constant figure even in our time and I’m happy about this. At the end of this list, I leave you with my thoughts on the matter.
I also take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a peaceful Christmas.
Lord of Asia by Mark G. McLaughlin (Throne of Darius #7)

A battle lost. A king despondent. An empire shattered. A world turned upside down – and ambitious men desperate to become The Lord of Asia.
History is written by the victors, but theirs is not necessarily the true, nor the only story of what really happened. The Throne of Darius series offers the account the victors did not want told; the epic tale of the Greek and Persian men and women who stood in defense of their homes, their families, and their very souls against Alexander of Macedon: a foreign invader so desperate to prove himself a man and a king that to do so he would burn down the world – and in doing so shattered one of the greatest civilizations the world has ever known.THE LORD OF ASIA is the seventh book in the ongoing THRONE OF DARIUS series. It picks up the story as Darius, King of Kings, is in flight after his defeat at the epic battle of Gaugemala. Darius: generals, governors, and most trusted advisors believe that he has lost the favor of Ahura Mazda, and as such question whether he should continue to wear the crown imperial. And if not Darius, then who should next bear the mantle of The Lord of Asia?
Kings and Traitors by Argent Wood (The God-Born #3)

Alexander was only 25 when he fought the Battle of Gaugamela, for the second time defeating the Persian King Darius. But it was not the decisive victory he’d hoped for. Once again, Darius had escaped, and so was still a threat, able to raise another army against him.
Commander of the army of the Hellenic League, and endorsed by the Greek city states to carry out a war of retribution against the Persian Empire, it was obvious to him that once started, this war could only end when the Persian threat to the Helleneic world was dealt with once and for all. And Alexander was never one to quit.
Beside him, is Hephaistion, his soulmate and lover, encouraging him when right, fighting him when wrong. As their tempestuous relationship is tested time and again by the changes and decisions Alexander is forced to make, can their love survive against the demands of a kingdom and the sacrifices of a war?
This book is the third of the Alexander series, The God-Born.

The Legacy of Alexander the Great: At The Intersection of Legend and History, Stand the Figure of Alexander the Great by Michael Louis Madigan

At the intersection of legend and history, the figure of Alexander the Great stands as one of the most enigmatic and influential leaders of the ancient world. Born in 356 BC in the ancient city of Pella, the capital of Macedon, Alexander earned a place in history as a military genius, a visionary ruler, and a symbol of ambition that has inspired countless generations. His life, a tapestry woven with conquests, cultural exchanges, and the quest for knowledge, offers an intricate portrait not merely of an individual but of an era that shaped the course of Western civilization. Alexander’s upbringing was marked by the immense influence of his father, King Philip II of Macedon, whose unification of the fragmented Greek city-states set the stage for his son’s monumental accomplishments.
Educated by the philosopher Aristotle, Alexander developed a keen intellect, a thirst for knowledge, and a deep appreciation for the arts and sciences. This education not only prepared him for the responsibilities of kingship but also instilled in him the ideals of Hellenistic culture—principles that would guide his actions as he ventured beyond the borders of Greece to create a vast empire.
The military campaigns of Alexander are legendary; within a brief span, he transformed a small kingdom into one of the largest empires of the ancient world. He conquered Persia, one of the greatest empires of his time, and marched into regions that stretched from Egypt to India, earning victories at significant battles such as Granicus, Issus, and Gaugamela. Each campaign was characterized by innovative strategies and an ability to inspire loyalty among his troops, earning him the title of “The Great.”
Alexander the Great Mystic by Anthony Vresland

Step into the world of Alexander the Great, not just as a conqueror but as a seeker, philosopher, and mystic whose life reshaped the ancient world and reverberates through history. In Alexander the Great Mystic, Anthony Vresland delves into the lesser-known facets of Alexander’s life, exploring his intellectual depth, spiritual pursuits, and divine legacy. This work weaves historical fact with spiritual insight, uncovering the threads that connect his earthly conquests to his quest for universal truths.
Alexander was not merely a general or a king; he was a bridge between cultures, East and West, human and divine. Raised in a Macedonian society steeped in martial discipline and philosophical inquiry, he inherited the dreams of his father, Philip II, and the teachings of Aristotle. His belief in his destiny—fortified by divine omens and mystical encounters—shaped his actions and legacy. From unraveling the Gordian Knot to consulting the Oracle of Zeus-Ammon in Siwa, Alexander’s life was a tapestry of myth and reality.
The book explores Alexander’s belief in sacred geography, a concept that tied his conquests to the will of the gods. His campaigns were more than territorial expansions; they were guided by a sense of divine purpose to unify humanity. Whether founding cities that blended Greek and indigenous cultures or spreading the ideals of Hellenism, Alexander saw himself as an agent of destiny, entrusted with bridging the mortal and the eternal.
At the heart of the narrative lies Alexander’s profound engagement with mysticism. His visions, dreams, and spiritual experiences reflect his belief in a higher power guiding his path. The text explores key episodes, such as his transformative journey to the Siwa Oasis, where he was declared the son of Zeus, and his enigmatic connection to the daemons—spiritual entities who shaped his life and decisions.

Steinberg ci guida all’interno di un confronto affascinante tra visioni contrapposte, testimonianze lacunose e interpretazioni emergenti. Keep in mind that I want to buy all these books to read them and have a more precise idea about each of these books, but I honestly doubt the quality of some of them or I find the price excessively high for the paperback edition. For now, however, I don’t even have them, so these are only my thoughts and impressions that I am curious to see if I will still think so after reading them or not. Have a good day everyone and Merry Christmas,
