Head, torso and upper right arm from a composite (?) statuette of Alexander the Great in alabaster. Head twisted to left and originally furnished with metal diadem (drill holes in head) terminating in single strand on right shoulder. Preserved portion probably made as separate unit. Perhaps based on original by Lysippus. Condition: Diadem lost. A few minute chips.
This posthumous statue was carved from an Egyptian stone in the Greek style that emphasizes motion by the twist of the head and neck.
